I don't like PPT2000's 3-pane view. I want my old view back.
You've installed PowerPoint 2000 and don't like the new "tri-pane" view. You want your old Slide view back.
Hold down the Ctrl key while you click the Slide View icon at the lower left of your screen.
The view is a presentation-level setting. That is, it's saved with each presentation. When you open a different presentation or start a new one, it'll come up in whatever view it was in when last saved. You can't get PowerPoint always to come up in any particular view.
But since the view is also saved with template (*.POT) files, you can open a POT file, change the view, then save it again as a .POT file under the same name and to the same folder. The next time you base a presentation on this template, the new presentation will appear in the view you chose when you saved the template.
Actually we lied. With Shyam Pillai's free Set default view add-in for PowerPoint 2000 or XP, you can make PowerPoint always come up in the view of your choice.
