Problem
I want to to put a movie on a PowerPoint slide and play it back in slow or fast motion.
Solution
If you add a movie via Insert, Movies And Sounds, Movie From File, you can't change the playback speed.
But PowerPoint MVP and Media Wizard Austin Myers reports that you can use this trick:
- From the control toolbox place an instance of Windows Media Player on the slide.
- Right click the Windows Media Player control and select Properties.
- For the URL property, type the path to your media file.
- In Properties click "Custom" then the Advanced tab.
- The default "Rate" is 1.0000 change it to .5000 to have the movie play at half speed, or change it to .25000 for quarter-speed playback. Or set the rate higher than 1.0000 for faster-than-normal playback.
Look out, Charlie Chaplin.
